Chris moved to California to attend a PhD program at Caltech. He is all but dissertation in molecular biology. His volunteer work at the student health center led him to drop out to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology. This combination made it natural for him to specialize in the brain-based disorders of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and later in his career the biology of emotion.
In his semi-retirement he continues to train psychologists, who work with brain-based disorders, and to do public education presentations about happiness.
