Celebrate Recovery was founded in 1991 as a ministry of Saddleback Church by Pastor John and Cheryl Baker. John shared with Senior Pastor Rick Warren a vision God had given him for a new Christ-centered ministry where people could find freedom from their hurts, hang-ups, and habits. It is a biblically based approach to help us achieve long lasting recovery by healing our hurts, guiding us toward new healthy truths, and developing life-giving habits. Thousands of churches have started a Celebrate Recovery ministry around the world, and that number continues to grow. 

Celebrate Recovery is not just growing in churches, but in recovery houses, rescue missions, universities, and prisons around the world. It continues to be a growing global movement. The need for Celebrate Recovery is unmistakable, being a safe place for people to find freedom from the issues controlling their lives.

Our local Sierra Madre Celebrate Recovery began on October 5, 2021.  It is led by the Ministry Leadership Team of Paul and Georgia Carpenter.  We meet at Christ Church Sierra Madre, 170 W. Sierra Madre Blvd, Sierra Madre, in Pritchard Hall every Tuesday night beginning with a family meal at 5:45.  Co-ed worship and either a lesson or a testimony follows.  Gender specific small open share groups meet until about 8:30 PM. The last Tuesday of each month we celebrate everyone’s recovery milestones, do-overs, and new journey beginnings with our Chip & Coin Night and a Potluck Party.
