Hans believes that the history of a place is greatly enhanced by stories related to that community.
Hans will tell us more about one of Altadena’s most famous residents, Zane Grey, specifically the role played by the renowned author in Altadena’s history and many fascinating connections between familiar places and people he encountered. Zane Grey was born in Ohio and was a Yale graduate and a dentist by education, but he had always dreamed about one day living in the west. Those familiar with Zane Grey will be aware that he was a very famous and successful American author of novels, mostly related to the American west. Possibly his most famous novel is “Rider of the Purple Sage” which he wrote while living in Ohio, prior to his move to California.
